Hello My Friend,

My name is Craig Maxim (DJ Craig) and I am currently employed as a DJ, but… I am also HOMELESS!

In October 2011, I became homeless for several days. I needed to leave the place I was staying and I just had nowhere else to go right away.  For the first several days, I slept in my vehicle at nights, and stayed in Parking Lots at Jacksonville Beach, FL.  I stayed mostly around the McDonalds at the Beach, because they are open 24 Hours which is handy, and… They have FREE WI-FI!!  :-)

But I began to notice, that because it was open 24 hours a day, it was a congregation spot for the Homeless in the area! I was surprised at how many different faces I would see in a day, and I began to befriend them, and learn more about their plights, and what kinds of assistance they were getting, and more importantly…  NOT getting!

In the first week I stayed with the Homeless, I was able to help many of them in various ways, including food, transportation, some clothing, etc…  Best of all, I was able to help 2 of them, get off the streets permanently, so that they weren’t homeless anymore!

As my own friends and family, realized that I was sleeping in my vehicle, I got offers to put me up, but… After praying about it, I felt God direct me to CONTINUE living among the Homeless and helping WHOEVER I could, as I went along!  This will sound funny, but… God told me to get the Domain Name:  www.HomelessDJ.com  and to BLOG about my experiences. This would be an exercise in FAITH, He told me, and it would inspire MANY OTHERS to reach a helping hand out to others!  God told me that He was going to do great things through this effort, and He would show others what is POSSIBLE from FAITH ALONE… Even from a position of HOMELESSNESS!!

And THAT is exactly what I have done. After God spoke to my heart, I immediately went online to purchase the Domain name. I knew it would be available, because I don’t doubt God… and it was.  I began blogging about my experiences after that, and so far MANY PEOPLE have already been inspired, and have offered help towards this project!  We have collected clothes, helped people with bus tickets, places to stay, help finding work and much more!

It’s TRUE that the government has a role in being faithful to the needs of the people. But… God wants us to remember, that it is in our power to HELP ONE ANOTHER TOO!! — We have lost much of our sense of community. We don’t get involved in our neighbor’s lives enough to know them, and consequently, be able to HELP THEM when possible.  COMMUNITY is ESSENTIAL, and we have more resources at our disposal than we realize many times, living as Islands!  WE ARE ONE SPECIES, and ONE FAMILY!

When LOVE for one another RULES our hearts…  Laws would be irrelevant! We would INSTINCTIVELY want to do, what is in the best interest of the ENTIRE COMMUNITY, and not just what was in our SELF INTEREST!
